Today we have concerns about the earth. Will it be able to supply our perceived needs or are our needs so great that they will cause the destruction of the earth. With global warming and pollution, I think we will need a massive change on how we relate to our world. But the question becomes: with all of the conflicting desires of people where do we start?
I think that we have to start by changing how we view the world. For instance movie directors, even with the best intentions, portray the world as one animal trying to eat another, as the other animal runs in fear. Of course this does happen but it is only a tiny part of the picture.
As we conceive so it appears
Furthermore, when we listen to or read the news we only see the bad news. Does this come from our concept of the world being a hostile place based on the survival of the fittest? Then, as we conceive it so it appears. Yes, the world is like magic: as our view of it changes the world, itself seems to change.
When we miss the love and beauty that is at the core of the world, the world seems to become a colder and harder place. It is just there for us to conquer and use. To fill ourselves up and get what we lack. It seems when we see the world as “out of whack” we make it “out of whack” so that it fits our image.

What is nature anyway?
But let’s take a deeper view right from our own experience. When we plan a vacation in nature we are not planning to pack into a hostile and deadly environment, are we? Although we do see death in nature, we also see birth and life. We see love and cooperation among the animals; we see the vastness of the mountains, the oceans and the stars. The overall impression that we get is one of beauty, peace and harmony. Now that’s why we like to spend out time in nature.
Stepping inside
Tracing this feeling of beauty and harmony further, we go inside our own being and see that the beauty and joy that we thought was out there, really comes from in here. Indeed, the oneness that we feel when we are in nature comes from stepping inside.
Standing here we get to appreciate fully what we are trying to preserve. It is a great symbol of the joy that comes right from our heart. And all we can do is stand in awe of a beauty that cannot be contained by just these words.
Feel free to ask questions
Please
feel free to continue asking questions. I’m always glad to hear your
reactions and clarify my answers. Unlike the path of faith, on the path
of Self-Knowledge it is curiosity that destroys limitation and allows
you to abide in your natural freedom.
