If there was a great buried treasure and somebody said, "You can find it somewhere on this planet earth," you might think that the odds of finding it are worse than winning the lottery. But if that person could provide you with a map showing the exact location of this treasure, then your odds of finding it go way up, don’t they? Your job then is to follow the map until you find this treasure.
But there is one caveat here: the treasure that you are looking for will vary depending on what you desire. You may have heard of a list of benefits that you could get through various spiritual practices like more wealth, more energy, and living a very long life; you could obtain more focus and accomplishment and even psychic powers. But did you know: that all of these benefits are too limited?
You have a vast potential
After all, these goals pertain to a limited person, and a limited person taking limited actions cannot get unlimited results. That's because limitation plus limitation does not equal infinity. In fact even if you get to be master of the whole universe, when the universe dies, your powers will disappear.
If you chose to devote your life or even part of it to spiritual practice, why not go for it all: the wisdom and bliss that is not affected by the ups and downs of life, or even by birth and death.
This hidden treasured is buried right in your heart
So here’s what I would suggest: No matter what results you expect, before you embark on a spiritual journey, find out who you are. Are you that limited person striving for results that are limited in value and duration? Perhaps when you discover who you really are, not only will you find the one who is practicing, you will find the end to that practice too; yes, the end might be at the very beginning.
And you will know for sure that this treasure map points to the last place you would expect; your own being. Here you will find the hidden treasure of joy buried right in your heart.
Asking Questions
If this blog seems a little theoretical to you, ask questions. Then you will see how the explanations in this blog apply to your life. And the freedom that you find will be real. Questioning is the key to your freedom. You’ll see that when you question limitation, it falls away.
Here questions about this article or other things going on in your life are always welcome; you can write us at michael@ananya.com. I love questions and try to answer them all in this blog. That’s because when you start to question limitation, you are on the verge of destroying it. When you can ask, you are well on your way to freeing yourself from the limitations that seem to cause your suffering. Of course, to preserve confidentiality your name will be left off.
